I promise.

15 December 2015
It was 5 days before Lauren’s birthday. Lauren and her father were crossing the street to go back home.

“Promise that you’ll get me a camera for my birthday dad.” Said Lauren.

“Yes Lauren. I promise.” Said Lauren’s father.

“I know dad. You always keep your promises no matter what.” Said Lauren as she cracked a smile.

“Honk! Honk!!!!!!!”  There was a car on the road driving recklessly.

“Lauren look out!” Shouted Lauren’s father as he pushed her far away from the road.

“Boom!”  It was the sound of somebody getting run over by a car.

Lauren looked back as she saw that her father was lying down on the road lifelessly. Lauren watched in horror as blood came out from her father.

People that saw the incident, helped to calm down Lauren and also call an ambulance. Someone helped to send Lauren home after calling the ambulance.

17 December 2015
Lauren’s father’s funeral was held. Tears were shed. Mostly by Lauren. “Why before my birthday dad…” Lauren mumbled several of times.

20 December 2015
It was Lauren’s birthday. Lauren didn’t come out from her room at all on that day. She stayed in her room. Remembering her beloved father. The promise that he made to her. Now, it just couldn’t be done. She cried herself to sleep on that very night.

The next morning…

Lauren woke up still sad about her lost. As she sat on her bed, she saw that on her bedside table was a box. She opened the box. Inside the box was a camera. Next to camera was a note. It said:

It's just like you said Lauren. I always keep my promises.

Love, dad.
