The adventure ends.

“AAAAA!!!!” Shouted Ameera as the crazy person grabbed her by the hand ready to pull her down into the water with it.

“Azim do something!” I shouted.

At that very moment, he took out a gun. Unfortunately, it didn’t have any bullets. Worst of all, he didn’t bring any extra bullets!

In the end, Ameera was pulled down to the sea with the crazy person.

“At least it wasn’t anyone else.” Said Yusof as he smiled.

“I wish that it had been you that was dragged down with it!” I shouted.

At that moment, both Azim and my raft, turned over. Making us fall into the water. I didn’t expect it to happen so, I didn’t swim. Instead, I passed out.

Moments later…
“Nuha! Nuha!” Said a voice while shaking my body softly.

I woke up slowly. I saw Haziqah looking over me like a pet cat. I straight away sat down and hugged her tightly.

“Where are we? How did we get here? Where are the others? What happened?” A bunch of questions blurted out of my mouth. Wanting answers.

“We’re in the hospital. Some life savers came to our rescue and saved us. The others are in another room.” Haziqah answered. But, she left out the answer for the question ‘What happened?’

“What happened?” I asked again. Wanting an answer.

“Ask the man who’s sitting on the chair on your right.” Said Haziqah. As she pointed to a tall man who had been looking at me and Haziqah talking.

I looked at him and asked, “What happened sir? Can you tell me?”

He gave me a smile, then told us what happened, “My rescue team and I were on the way to the city where there was the disease. Suddenly, one of our members spotted your friend here. She passed out.” He paused for a while before continuing, “So, my team members thought that there might be more somewhere in the sea. So, all of us swam into the sea to find the six of you. One of our team members by the name of Ahmad Sofian, found you, took you by the collar and swam to the boat with you.”

“What’s your name anyway?” I asked.

“My name is Aqil Fickry.” Said the man.

“Where are the others?” I asked.

“In in the room next door.” Said Aqil Fickry.

I stood up. Even though I still felt a bit weak, I had to see how were my other friends doing.

Haziqah accompanied me to the room next door. It was Azim and Yusof’s room.

I opened the door to see Yusof sitting next to Azim. Waiting for him to wake up.

“Hello Yusof.” I said while waving at him.

Yusof didn’t reply my waving instead, he continued looking at Azim who was still unconscious.

Haziqah and I walked into the room to accompany Yusof to wait for Azim to wake up.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure he’ll wake up soon enough.” I said while looking at Yusof. I could tell by the look on his face that he was worried for Azim’s sake.

“Hey guys.” Said a voice.

The three of us looked at the door, no one was there.

“Down here.” Said the voice again weakly.

The three of us looked at the bed and saw that Azim slowly opened his eyes and cracked a smile.

“Azim!” Shouted Yusof and hugged Azim tightly.

Azim only managed to crack a smile.

“Hello you all!” Said two voices

The four of us looked at the door and saw Ameera and Safwa emerge at the door.

“You guys are already awake?” Haziqah asked looking surprised.

“We’ve been awake for a while. We’ve been having trouble finding the right room. The last room that we were in, there was a patient that lost his hands. Safwa mistaken the patient for Yusof.” Said Ameera.

“Hahaha!!!” Laughed all of us except Yusof who was on grumpy mode.

An hour later, our parents came to pick us up at the hospital. They said sorry to us for leaving us in the car while they saved themselves. The six of us were happy to be reunited with our parents.

Weeks later, the six of us started school. It was a coincidence that the six of us got into the same school. For the past two weeks, all that the six of us had been talking about was about our epic adventure.

A month later, a question suddenly popped up in my head. What happened to the town that had the disease? What happened to the people who got infected? As for those questions, I suppose that, we will never know…

The end.

Finding another island

“Row, row, row your raft gently across sea, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily life’s about a dream!” Sang Ameera as she rowed the raft. Haziqah and I only laughed and suddenly started to follow her singing.

“Oh be quiet will you three! Childish children.” Shouted Azim as he rowed his raft with Safwa and Yusof.

“Don’t think that you’re already an adult Azim. You still have a lot to learn.” I said. Not caring as I knew that we were only 11 years old.

Azim only rolled his eyes in annoyance. As he continued rowing the raft.

“You know, Nuha’s right. We’re only 11 years old. Too old to be called children and too young to be teens. We’re on the average of becoming a teen. So, live while we’re young.” Said Yusof.

And live while we’re young! Ooooooooo… Ooooooooo…. Tonight lets get some, and live while we’re young!” I sang one of the ‘One Direction’ band songs, ‘Live while we’re young’.

“Whatever.” Mumbled Azim.

An hour later…
“I see land!” Shouted Safwa.

We quickly rowed our rafts to the land where Safwa was pointing at. When we reached land, I quickly got out of the raft and lay down on the ground. Not caring if my shirt had dirt or any bugs. I was glad to stand up.

“It’s 7.00 PM.” Said Azim while his eyes were fixed on his watch.

“Do you all want to leave this island now or tomorrow?” Asked Haziqah.

“After all that, all I want to do is rest.” I said.

“I’m with Nuha.” Said Ameera as she lay down next to me.

Soon, everyone was on the ground laying down.

“Isn’t this nice rather than having to Azim being too serious?” Said Haziqah.

“What did you say?” Asked Azim.

“Nothing.” Said Haziqah as she cracked a smile at me. The both of us laughed.

A few minutes later all of us were sleeping.

10.00 AM
“Haziqah! Haziqah! Wake up!” I said while shaking Haziqah who was still sleeping.

As soon as she woke up, the first words she muttered were, “Wait, that whole adventure thing wasn’t a dream?”

I hit my forehead and said, “If it was a dream, would this hurt?” Then, I slapped her.

“Ow!” Said Haziqah.

“Where are the others?” Asked Haziqah as she begin to sit down.

“Oh, they are all waiting in the raft. Azim told me to wake you up. At first I objected then suddenly, he gave me the angry glare. So, I had no choice but to wake you up.” I said.

Haziqah stood there; move less.

“What’re are you waiting for? Get on your feet and get into the raft!” I shouted as soon as I realised that she wasn’t moving but instead sitting there like a lifeless doll.

“Oh. Yes, yes, yes…” Said Haziqah as she got up on her feet and ran into the raft. I followed from behind.

“Let’s get moving!” Said Azim softly this time. The six of us begin to row our rafts.

A few moments later…
“Splash, splash, splash.” Went a sound behind our rafts. It sounded like something swimming.

Since that Ameera was at the very back of the raft, I instructed her, “Ameera, could you turn around to see what is swimming behind us?”

Without saying a word, Ameera turned her head. 10 seconds later, her head turned back but this time, her face was pale.

“What’s wrong Ameera?” Haziqah asked.

“The, the, the…” Said Ameera.

“The what?” I asked.

“P… Pe… per…” Ameera continued.

“What?!” I asked getting extremely anxious to know what was swimming behind us.

“One of the crazy people are swimming behind us!” Said Ameera finally.

I turned my head quickly to make sure that she wasn’t playing games with me. And, she was not. It was true! The crazy person was swimming quietly and quickly behind us!

“Ameera and Haziqah, time to row the raft faster!” I shouted.

Without saying a word, the three of us had already went further than Azim’s raft.

“Silly girls. Must have been a big fish or something.” Said Azim as he smirked.

“Uh Azim, you might want to take back what you said and look behind.” Said Yusof. His face had gone completely pale.

Azim turned his head. His face turned as pale as Yusof’s. It was true!

“Yusof and Safwa, time too row very fast!” Said Azim.

Without a word the three of them rowed their rafts very fast until their raft was next to ours.

But that wasn’t enough to keep the crazy person away from us. The crazy person had catch up to us. He or she was directly behind our raft. Azim took out something from his bag.

The crazy person was coming closer to Ameera. Ameera was ready to scream her heart out.

How will Ameera be? What did Azim take out from his bag? Find out in: The adventure ends.

The journey begins

“Wo,wo,wo,wo,wo,wo…” A sound could be heard above us.

The six of us looked up to see a helicopter. The helicopter quickly came down but not on the roof. A ladder came down from the helicopter.

“Quick! Climb up the ladder if you six want to live!” Shouted the pilot from inside the helicopter. The six of us climb up the ladder. Azim was the last one to get into the helicopter.

As soon as the six of us were in, the pilot flew the helicopter. “Are you all okay?” He asked.
“Yup. We’re all okay.” Answered the six of us at the same time.

“He,he,he,he…. Hahahahaha!!!!” Laughed a voice.

“I recognize that crazy laugh anywhere.” Said Haziqah as she turned around. One of the crazy people had gotten into the helicopter! I guessed that it climb quietly behind Azim.

The crazy person ran to the pilot. The pilot couldn’t control the helicopter. We were crashing!

“Quick! Jump out of the helicopter!” Instructed Azim as he got ready to jump.

“Are you for real?!” I asked.

“Just trust me!” Said Azim as he jumped. His jump was followed by Yusof. Soon, all of us had jumped off the helicopter, leaving the pilot. Did he get infected, die or safe? We didn’t know.
Luckily, we landed in water. Without wasting time, we swam to the nearest land.

When we reached land…
“I… I’m freezing cold…” I said; shivering.

“We can’t do anything about that because we’re stranded on an island!” Shouted Azim directly to me.

“Hey! Don’t you dare shout at her!” Said Ameera while hugging me for warmth.

Azim walked away not so far away. He sat down then put his face in his hands.

“We’re doomed. We’re going to be stuck here for the rest of our lives! Doomed I tell you, DOOMED!” Shouted Yusof. Yusof looked at Azim.

Azim realised that, and said, “Why are you looking at me? I can’t do anything except doom the six of us like Yusof said.”

When I heard that, I walked over to Azim and said, “Don’t say that. Who was the one who took charge in town just now? Who told us what happened to the city? It was all you!”

“You should be proud to be leading us all! Come on! Don’t give up now!” Said Yusof.

Azim got up on his feet. Then he said, “Okay, I won’t give up so, what do we do now? Do we stay here for the rest of the night or leave now?”

We all thought for a while before Ameera said, “I think we’re safe here. The crazy person may have drowned with the pilot.”

“What if the crazy person knew how to swim? What if that person was standing behind you? What if the crazy person was hiding somewhere here?" Exclaimed Haziqah. Her questions were all frightening Safwa.

“Haziqah’s got a point though.” I said.

“But, if the crazy person was standing or hiding anywhere near us, he or she would have been laughing like a maniac.” Said Yusof.

“Did any of you here a maniac laughing? No right? So, we’re safe here.” Said Azim.

“What you’re all saying makes sense. But, are we just going to be spending the night here? Anything could just creep up on us.” Said Safwa who had been quiet the whole time.

“So what do we do? Risk our lives while spending the night here or go find another land?” I asked while crossing my hands. At that moment, the room was in silence.

“If I were you guys, I would go find another land.” I continued. Again, no one said a thing. For the whole five minutes, all of us didn’t say a word.

“I’m with Nuha. Her plan seems sensible.” Said Safwa. “I’ve got one follower.” I said.

The others were in silenced. Safwa and I looked at each other. Moments later, Ameera agreed with me. Then the other three did the same.

“Okay but, how are we going to find another land? Don’t tell me that we need to swim.” Said Haziqah and Safwa who was tired out from swimming.

“Did any of you realised that this whole time that, Azim has been carrying a bag behind his back?” I asked. The others looked at Azim.

“Oh. I didn’t realise that.” Said Yusof. “What’s in the bag?” Asked Yusof.

“Things for survival.” Said Azim.

“WHAT? Why didn’t you tell us sooner?!” Haziqah asked furiously.

“Because, I wanted to see how long you all can survive without survival things.” Said Azim as he muttered a smile.

Haziqah took a stick and raised it in the air to hit Azim. At that moment, Yusof blocked Haziqah from doing so. “Hey! You should be proud that you managed to survive without survival things!” Shouted Yusof.

I took the stick out of Haziqah’s hand. “Azim, is there like an inflatable raft inside there?” I asked.

“Luckily I do have what you asked for. And, I have two of them.” Said Azim as he put his bag down and opened the zip of the bag. He then took out two rafts that have not been inflated. “There. And, the six of us will be the first ones to try them.” Said Azim.

“That’s cool and all but, how do you inflate them?” Asked Ameera curiously. Azim handed me and Yusof a remote.

“Press the green button.” Said Azim.

Yusof and I pressed the green button. Yusof pressed it first. One of the rafts inflated. Seeing what happened, I did the same thing. Unfortunately, I didn’t see that Safwa was sitting on the raft that hadn’t been inflated. The moment that it inflated, Safwa was thrown up to the air.

“NUHA!” Safwa shouted from above. Fortunately, Yusof aimed correctly and managed to catch Safwa.

“Safwa, what have you been eating? You’re so heavy…” Exclaimed Yusof as Safwa got onto the ground.

“Hey!” Said Safwa as she kicked Yusof. “Ow!” Shouted Yusof.

“That’s enough you two. Now, you all help me push the rafts and quickly get inside.” Said Azim.

“Azim in one raft, how many people can go in?” I asked. “Three people.” He said.

“Are we allowed to choose which raft we go in?” Asked Ameera who heard Azim and I talking.

“Why of course.” Said Azim.

“I’m going in the blue raft.” I said.

“I’m going with Nuha.” Said Ameera.

“Me too!” Said Haziqah. The both of them helped me push the raft. As soon as it was in the water, the three of us went into the raft quickly.

So, Azim, Yusof and Safwa went in the yellow raft.

“Azim! How to de make the raft move forward or at any direction?” I asked.

“Are you blind? See, there are the paddle things next to you. Use them!” Said Azim.

I turned to my right and saw three things to help us paddle. I gave one to Ameera and Haziqah. The three of us started paddling. It was going to be a long journey…

The beginning

“Ugh my head…” I said, as I slowly begin to stand up on my feet. I was surprised to see the town; it was destroyed! I turned around to see if anybody was still alive. Next to me were my friends, lying down on the road. There were 5 of them; 3 girls and 1 boy. I remembered that there was another one of our friends which was a boy. What was his name? Where is he? Anyway, if including me, there would be 4 girls. My name is Nuha.

The name of the three girls: Ameera, Safwa and Haziqah.

Name of the boy: Yusof.

“My head…” Said a voice. I turned around to see Ameera slowly waking up. “Ameera! Are you okay?” I asked while helping her to stand up. When she was finally on her feet, I hugged her. Relief that at least she was awake to accompany me.

“What happened?” Said a voice. Ameera and I turned around to see Safwa slowly waking up. “Nuha, Ameera!” Shouted Safwa as she came to embrace us. After the hug, Safwa woke up her older brother, Yusof. “He won’t wake up…” Said Safwa while tears came in her eyes. “Maybe he’s dead.” Ameera said. “Ameera! That’s not nice!” I said. It was usual as in school Ameera and Yusof would always argue and fight over little things. “I have an idea to wake him up.” I said, clapping my hands. I took out my used sock and put it near Yusof’s nose. In a jiffy, he woke up.

“What in the world was that horrible smell?!” He shouted. I quickly took my sock and put it back into my pocket.

“Hahaha…” Laughed Ameera.

“Why’re you guys laughing?” Asked a voice.

We all turned around to see that Haziqah had woke up. “Haziqah! Are you okay?” Safwa and I asked at the same time. “I’m okay just… Dizzy…” Said Haziqah as she dropped on the road again. Safwa and I helped her to stand on her feet.

“Wait where is Azim?” Asked Yusof. Ah yes! That’s his name! Azim another one of the boys.

“Guys! You’re awake!” Shouted a voice. The five of us turned around to see, Azim who was out of breath.

“Where have you been?” We all asked as we approached Azim.

“No time to explain. Now, we must get to the nearest building, apartment or anything that has shelter to watch out for them.” Said Azim while grabbing Yusof by the hand.

All of us followed Azim as he ran fast. “Azim! Why are we running? And who is them?” I asked. “I’ll tell you when we fine shelter!” Said Azim as he turned a while and looked at all of us who were running after him.

After a half and an hour run, Azim stopped in front of an apartment. “Go in the apartment! Hurry!” He instructed as if he was the leader of the soldiers. Without hesitation, one by one all of us went into the apartment. When all of us got into the apartment, Azim found a room, went inside, waited for us to go in and locked the door and windows.

“Now, explain Azim. Why were we running like maniacs?” I asked, out of breath. “You guys seriously don’t remember?” Asked Azim while looking at all of us. All of us except Azim, shook our heads. Azim took a deep breath, and told the story. “A disease had speared through the town. The disease made people go crazy. The sign is that they’re faces would turn orange, white eyes and would laugh maniacally.” Azim paused for a moment to see if all of us were focusing. Then, he continued, “The people got into their cars and drove to safety. Some of them weren’t so fortunate while the others, got saved by a helicopter that came to their rescue. After all of the not-infected people left the town, the people that got hit by disease, hid somewhere in the town.” And that was the end of Azim’s story.

As soon as he finished, the room was filled with silence.

“You said that the non-infected people got saved by a helicopter. If that’s so, then, how are you still here?” I asked, curiously. The others and I, laid our eyes on Azim.

“I didn’t get to get on the helicopter. Because the helicopter left me behind. I thought that another helicopter would come to my safety but none came. So, I walked through the town. Suddenly, I saw you guys lying down on the road. You guys fainted. I don’t know why. But, the crazy people didn’t hurt you. I think it’s because they thought that you guys were dead.” Explained Azim.

“How long has it been since we fainted?” Asked Yusof who was sitting next to Azim. Azim looked at his watch, and said, “4 hours.”

I looked at my watch. It was 5.00 PM. “So we fainted 4 hours ago right?” I asked. “Yup.” Said Azim. “So, now what? Do we wait until tomorrow or we leave now?” Asked Haziqah. “I say we leave now. The earlier we leave, the faster we can search for safety.” Said Azim as he started to open the door. We all followed behind him. We walked, walked and walked for hours!

“Hehehe… Hahaha…” Laughed a voice behind us. We all turned behind and saw… a maniac person!!! “AAAA!!!!” All of us shouted. We ran for dear life. Suddenly, more crazy people came out from their hiding spot. I stopped; Azim saw me. “Keep on running Nuha!” Shouted Azim. I had no other choice but to follow his orders. We ran until we reached a building. We climb the stairs while the crazy people followed from behind. Unfortunately, Ameera was the person who was at the very back. I could see her face turn pale as she ran with all might.

We ran up the stairs till we reached the roof of the building. “It’s a dead end.” Azim said. We all ran up to the roof. The moment Ameera closed the door, the door suddenly burst open with loads of crazy people! “I’m too young to die!” Said Yusof dramatically. “Don’t be a drama king!” Said Safwa.

“Wo,wo,wo,wo,wo,wo….” A sound could be heard above us.

Would we live? What was that sound? Find out in: The journey begins.
