Lamppost

A 10 year old girl name Jemma lived where a lot of mysterious things happened. Most of them was a about children disappearing in a sudden way. One day, it happened to her friend, Elexandra.

“Knock, knock, knock!”

Somebody knocked on the front door of Jemma’s house. Jemma went to the door and opened it. She saw Elexandra sweating and panting.

“Elexandra! Why are you sweating like this?” Asked Jemma in a surprised way.

“I have been running away from… something….” Exclaimed Elexandra while panting in the middle of her sentence.

“From what?” Asked Jemma being curious.

“Could you at least offer me a drink and a seat?” Asked Elexandra.

Jemma realizing that she hadn’t offered Elexandra to sit, have a drink of even come in, begin to feel embarrassed. “Please sit.” Said Jemma respectfully.

Elexandra sat down on the couch. Jemma went into the kitchen and took out some apple juice and two cups. Jemma went back to the couch where Elexandra was sitting and poured the both of them apple juice.

“Now, tell me what were you running away from?” Asked Jemma.

Elexandra took a deep breath than told the reason why, “I was playing my flying disc with my friends at the park. When my friend threw the disc, I didn’t catch it. In the end, it ended up, in a bush behind a lamppost.” Paused Elexandra as she wanted to drink a bit of her juice. Then, she continued her story, “When I was walking over to the bush which was behind the lamppost, I noticed that the lamppost seemed rather odd.” Paused Elexandra as she drank again. She continued after she drank, “Odd as if it was a really tall man, putting its’ hands by its side and standing really still.” And that was the end of Elexandra’s story.

“I think that you’re tired.” Said Jemma. “Why don’t we talk some other time?” Continued Jemma as she pulled Elexandra’s hand and pulled her to the door. Jemma opened the door, said goodbye to Elexandra and closed the door back. Leaving Elexandra outside.

“She must be sick.” Said Jemma not believing Elexandra.

The next day, there was news that a young girl had been found dead. It said that the girl’s corpse was found folded up and her organs were in the nearest trash bin. When the cops looked at the girl, a girl on the street said that the dead girl’s name was Elexandra.

Jemma then believed what Elexandra said. Three days later, Jemma attended to Elexandra’s funeral.

A week later, Jemma was on her way to school. Before she walked to school, she counted the lamppost on the street. There were 21.

When Jemma walked back home from school, there were 22 lampposts…
